Flight attendant shares tips on how to get an upgrade | Travel News | Travel

A flight attendant has revealed tips on how to get an upgrade on your next flight and explained why you might not get one despite your best efforts. In a video uploaded to TikTokLADbible TV, also known as @boyinterviewed a cabin crew member, with one of them explaining what steps passengers should take to improve their travel experience to their destination.

When asked how people can get an upgrade the next time they board a plane, the flight attendant laughed and said it’s one of her most frequently asked questions. So for those who want to know, listen up! First, she says that if you want a more comfortable seat, you should dress to impress. She suggests, “Dress well and dress for the cabin you want to be in.”

She stressed the importance of being polite and maintaining a positive attitude. While it is nice to get an upgrade, showing anger or frustration will not improve the situation. It may seem like common sense, but some passengers will not remain calm and will instead yell at airport staff. Her advice is clear: “Be polite and kind, do not yell at anyone, as negative behavior is not rewarded.”

She discussed why even if you do all of the above, there is one reason you simply won’t get an upgrade. She joked, “Don’t have kids.” She explained why having kids could prevent you from getting an upgrade: “They will never upgrade kids, ever.” She further explained, adding, “They would never put a child in higher class or premium economy because the kids usually disrupt the other passengers, so that’s why you would never get an upgrade with kids.”

She's not the only one who thinks dressing up can get you the seat you've been waiting for. According to Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert (MSE), you should keep in mind that an upgrade will likely put you in more luxurious cabins. Therefore, they recommend dressing to increase your chances of getting that coveted upgrade.

They explain: “An old T-shirt and flip-flops may be comfortable, but if you don’t look like an airline, they’re less likely to put you in the top-paying customer list.” People don’t just go on holiday to soak up the sun and escape from work, they go for a special reason.
