Malaysian operator You Mobile and ZTE Corporation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in the implementation of a second 5G network and to explore the evolution to future RAN technology, including 5G-Advanced (5G-A). In another collaboration announced separately on August 12, the operator has signed an MoU with Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) to support U Mobile's 5G development roadmap in Malaysia.

U Mobile, ZTE Partner, Huawei Partnership
As part of the partnership, U Mobile will work with ZTE Corporation and Huawei Malaysia to deploy hardware and software for a second 5G network in the country.
U Mobile said it will continue to collaborate with ZTE on various research and development (R&D) initiatives beyond 5Gwith a focus on evolving to 5G-A, 6G and future technologies to support consumer and enterprise demand. Similarly, U Mobile will leverage Huawei Malaysia’s technical expertise to implement future RAN technologies.
Collaborative efforts in network design
Both parties will continue to cooperate on network design, planning, deployment, operations and optimization of the second 5G network deployment, the official release said. The partners will also jointly evaluate and seek financing solutions to ensure a model that enables rapid technology deployment and cost efficiency required for 5G deployment.

Building on previous collaborations
This partnership with ZTE builds on U Mobile’s previous collaborations, including joint efforts in improving 5G and advanced 5G technology, containerization, autonomous network initiatives, and 5G adoption for enterprises.
Similarly, the partnership with Huawei builds on U Mobile's previous collaboration this year, in which both parties signed an MoU to strategically collaborate on 5G innovation technology and 5G-to-Business (5G-to-B) to accelerate 5G adoption for businesses.
