Tottenham have suspended Yves Bissouma for their opening match Eredivisie match of the season after the midfielder shared a video of himself inhaling laughing gas.
The 27-year-old uploaded a video of himself on social media on Saturday, which shows him breathing from a balloon.
Bissouma had played 45 minutes for Tottenham Hotspur earlier that day in their final friendly against Bayern Munich.
The Mali international later apologised, but the Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that he will not be involved in Monday night's match Leicester City.
“He won't be available on Monday,” Postecoglou said. “We suspended him for Monday's game. He needs to rebuild that trust with me and the group. The door is open for him and we can help him realize that the decisions he makes have an impact on the group.”
The recreational use of nitrous oxide, also known as NOS or laughing gas, was made a criminal offence in the UK last year and classified as a Class C drug.
“I want to apologize for these videos,” Bissouma said. “This was a serious lack of judgment.
'I understand how serious this is and the health risks it entails. I take my responsibility as a footballer and role model very seriously.'
