AFC Bournemouth have agreed a €47million (£40million) deal to sign Evanilson from Porto, who Manchester United's 'top target for strikers' just two years ago.

The Cherries have acted quickly to replace their top striker Dominicus Solankewho they just sold to Tottenham, securing an impressive £65m prize.

Evanilson, 24, is regarded as one of the most exciting players in Europe and United – who lost 3-0 to Bournemouth at Old Trafford last season – made him a Goal #1 in 2022.

However, the Red Devils were unable to conclude a deal. Two years later, Bournemouth came calling to secure a club record signing for the Brazilian.

The Cherries have booked Evanilson for a medical and he will travel to the Vitality Stadium shortly, according to reportswhere the transfer takes place at a rapid pace.

News of Bournemouth's deal for Evanilson comes after some media reports claimed the Cherries were considering signing Arsenal flop Eddie Nketiah.

The Gunners are desperate to sell their striker, but it seems unlikely he will be moving to Bournemouth.

Andoni Iraola's side look set to challenge for the Premier League's top 10 this season, especially if they can secure a deal for Evanilson, who has played twice for Brazil and scored 25 goals in 42 games for Porto last season.

The south coast club already has a number of impressive stars in their selection, including Ilia Zabarnyi and Milos Kerkez, who attracted interest from bigger clubs.

Bournemouth finished 12th last season, the second-best season in their entire 125-year history, in what was Iraola's debut season as head coach.

In the 2023-24 season, they were just one point behind tenth place, and twelve points behind seventh place, which would normally be enough to secure a place in the Europa Conference League.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth have also signed Julián Araujo from Barcelona this summer. The 23-year-old has made 23 appearances for Mexico.

It appears Bournemouth have a smarter deal as they paid just €10m (£8.5m) for the right-back, who has made over 100 Major League Soccer appearances for LA Galaxy and spent last season on loan at Las Palmas in La Liga.
