Everything you need to know

Premier League clubs have less and less time to strengthen their selections in the transfer period with the deadline approaching.

The Premier League season starts on August 17, when Fulham travel to Manchester United – meaning the window remains open for the first two weeks of the campaign.

Here's everything you need to know about the summer 2024 transfer deadline.

When is the transfer deadline?

Friday, August 30th.

What time does the ticket office close in England?

The transfer window in England will be shorter this year. The deal closes at 11pm on Friday 30th August.

The Premier League and Scottish Premiership have brought forward the deadline to bring them into line with other major leagues in Europe.

However, clubs can request a 'deal sheet' two hours before the deadline if they are concerned about a deal for a player not being completed by 11pm.

The deal overview allows a club to confirm that an agreement has been reached and provides additional time to submit the required documentation.

What time does the window close in Europe?

La Liga's window ends at the same time, but French teams in Ligue 1 have an hour less to close deals, with a deadline of 22:00. The Bundesliga window closes at the end of the working day, at 17:00, while transfers in Serie A must be completed by 19:00.

What deals have been closed so far?

In the Premier League, Tottenham have brought in Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke for an initial free transfer of £55 million plus add-ons.

Manchester United have ramped up their summer spending plans by concluding agreements with Bayern Munich for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui to bolster Erik ten Hag's defence for the season.

Meanwhile Manchester City have sold Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid in a deal worth €95million (£81.5million), making the Argentine world champions a record signing for the Premier League champions.

West Ham have signed Aaron Wan-Bissaska on a seven-year contract as their spending spree continues. The right-back is the club's eighth senior signing of the transfer window as they seek the support of new coach Julen Loptegeui.

As expected, Chelsea are one of the busiest clubs in the transfer window. Winger Pedro Neto is the most notable signatures of the window so far – but of course this can change at any time.

Thiago Silva has been replaced by Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham, while Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has joined from Leicester City to replace Maresca.

How can I view the transfer deadline?

Unfortunately, there’s not much to watch on the day itself, with Sky Sports News losing its monopoly on the day’s events. Many fans will spend the day frantically scrolling on X, formerly known as Twitter, but if you’d rather keep your wits about you, we recommend following all the deals and expert analysis on Telegraph Sport’s live blog.

What things could still be done?

Bournemouth are investigating the possibility of signing Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, who is available after negotiations with Marseille broke down.

Nottingham Forest are set to sign a Paraguayan international winger Ramón Sosa for £11mwith Nuno Espírito Santo confirming that the club is also looking for another striker.

In the meantime, Liverpool have taken a hit on their summer recruitment plans after Martin Zubimendi decided not to move to Anfield and stay at Real Sociedad.

Arne Slot has not made a single transfer since his appointment as manager and at this stage of his first transfer window it is unlikely that he will sign alternative midfielder Zubimendi.
