An auction where a selection of Steve Jobs The memorabilia sale has opened, with potential bidders able to spend thousands of dollars on checks, Polaroids and even a bomber jacket linked to the Apple co-founder.
Apple memorabilia continues to be a big draw for collectors, and items featuring Steve Jobs are always popular. In RR Auction's Steve Jobs and the Apple Computer Revolution auctionThere are 278 items up for sale, including some directly related to the late co-founder and CEO.
Topping the list of Jobs-specific lots is the “Middle Finger to IBM” leather bomber jacket. Created by Wilkes Bashford, it was worn by Jobs in an iconic 1983 photo in which he flipped the bird at an IBM sign.
The jacket was priced at over $27,000 at the time of publication and is estimated to fetch $27,000. more than $75,000.
The list of items includes a number of signed checks from 1976, which are expected to be worth more than €100,000. $25,000 each when bidding closes. Also up for sale are photos, including Polaroid shots for NeXT ID badges featuring Jobs and founders, believed to be more than $10,000 in value.
Jobs isn't the only Apple CEO to appear in the lists. Current CEO Tim Kok also includes features, but with items that are slightly cheaper.
A Tim Cook signed photo of his Time 100 image could be yours for an estimated price $500. One with Cook and musician Dave Grohl, signed by both men, has already passed its prime $500 estimate.
Other lots in the listing include an Apple Lisa computer with “Twiggy” drives, a ProFile hard drive and associated software and manuals worth $80,000. Meanwhile, it is estimated that an Apple-1 computer given by Jobs and Steve Wozniak to Apple's first applications engineer for $300,000.
First generation sealed iPhones have estimates of $20,000 for the 8GB model, $80,000 for the rarer 4GB version.
RR Auctions will hold the auctions through August 22, with the “30 Minute Rule” going into effect at 7:00 PM EDT that day.
