WhatsApp has been very busy lately add new features left and right, and it's not stopping anytime soon. Today, a new beta version of the app was released for Android (2.24. 17. 19), and it brings with it early support for chat themes.
As you can see from the screenshot below, the feature is still in early development, but it is coming. You can choose a chat theme which will allow you to change the color of the messages and the background of the chat.
If you’ve ever used Facebook Messenger, you basically know what to expect here, since that app has had chat themes for years. WhatsApp, as in many other ways, is simply catching up.
To test WhatsApp beta features on Android, you'll need to be on the beta track, which you can sign up for via the Play Store listing. Keep in mind, though, that enrollment isn't always open.
Since it typically takes a long time for new WhatsApp features to move from beta to stable, we expect Chat Themes to be available to everyone by the end of the year.
