Shamrock Rovers v Celje – Hoops hope to turn deficit in first leg of Europa League

Good evening. Shamrock Rovers are trailing Slovenian champions NK Celje in the third qualifying round of the Europa League. Luka Menalo's first half goal on a pitch that Stephen Bradley branded “disgraceful” has left the Hoops in an uphill battle to stay in the competition.

If they advance, they will secure a place in the group stage of the Europa Conference League, which will earn them €3 million in prize money, and a Europa League play-off match against Greek side PAOK.

However, the Hoops also have the safety net of a Conference League play-off if they fail to overturn the result of the first leg.

Tonight's match at Tallaght Stadium kicks off at 8pm and you can stream it for €10 here but we're keeping a close eye on all the action on Independent.ie.
