Guard postpones more shows on his Past Present Future tour after initially canceling his opening concert on August 14.
The artist announced on Instagram on Thursday that he will be rescheduling his first three concerts in Atlanta after sustaining a neck injury during rehearsals and needing more time to recover.
“Earlier this week I injured my neck while rehearsing to give my fans the best Usher show ever,” he wrote. “I was hoping that with physical therapy and medical treatment I would be able to overcome the injury and be ready for opening night. Unfortunately the injury has not healed and my doctors have instructed me to not perform any shows this week. The good news is that the doctors say that with proper rest and treatment I should be ready to begin the tour on August 20th in Washington DC.”
Usher continued, “I love my fans and thank you for understanding that this injury needs to heal so I can give you the 100% excellence you expect from an Usher show and I will be on stage in your city very soon.”
The August 14 show at State Farm Arena in Atlanta has been rescheduled to December 9, August 16 to December 10, and August 17 to December 12.
Usher initially postponed his first show, telling fans on Wednesday that he needed to “give his body some time to rest and heal,” though he did not disclose his injury at the time.
“In my 30+ year career, I have put 100% of my blood, sweat and tears into delivering the best performance and creating a memorable experience for my fans,” the singer wrote in a since-deleted post. “I intend to do the same for this tour, which is why I must postpone tonight's show.”
He then continued: “You'll still get a little bit of the past, a little bit of the present and a unique glimpse into the future on the new date, but you'll also get 100% of me. The last thing I ever want to do is disappoint you, the fans who have been eagerly awaiting the start of this tour. However, I wouldn't be the entertainer I am if I couldn't physically give you my best. My team will share news of the new date soon. I can't wait to celebrate this legacy with you.”
It's been a busy few years for Usher, who 2024 Super Bowl headliner earlier this year and wrapped his 100-show My Way Las Vegas residency in December 2023. His Past Present Future tour, which includes stops in North America and Europe, runs through May 2025.
