Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars Release 'Die With a Smile' Song and Music Video

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars Release 'Die With a Smile' Song and Music Video

Woman Gaga And Bruno Mars sing together for the first time on their love ballad “Die With a Smile,” a new standalone single and music video released Thursday.

In the video, Gaga and Mars perform the song on a retro stage with guitars and keyboards. Mars wears a cowboy hat and Gaga makes a statement in bright red tights.

Rumors of a collaboration between Gaga and Mars have been circulating the internet for several days now, and the two singers confirmed the news with a message earlier on Thursday on social media.

In her announcement, Gaga said the song was meant for fans “while you wait for LG7,” her long-awaited new album, the release date of which has not yet been announced.

“Die With a Smile” is also one of the first new songs released from both artists in years. Lady Gaga released a collaboration album with Tony Bennett and her Top Gun: Maverick hit “Hold My Hand” in 2022, but her last major solo music was Chromatics in 2020. Mars won two Grammys in 2022 for his Silk Sonic project with Anderson .Paak and his last major solo release was almost a decade ago, in 2016.

“Bruno and I have a lot of mutual respect for each other and had talked about working together,” Gaga said in a press release. “I was finishing up my own album in Malibu and one night after a long day he asked me to come to his studio to listen to something he was working on. It was around midnight when I got there and I was blown away when I heard what he had started to make. We stayed up all night writing and recording the song. Bruno's talent is indescribable. His musicality and vision are next level. There's no one else like him.”

Mars added: “It was an honor to work with Gaga. She's an icon and she makes this song magical. I'm so happy for everyone to hear it.”

“Die With a Smile” is co-produced by the duo, along with D'Mile and Andrew Watt. The video is directed by Daniel Ramos and Mars.

Gaga will star opposite Joaquin Phoenix in the upcoming film Joker: Two-Fold Filmwhere she will sing, although she recently stated that it will be “different from anything I've done before.”

“People know me by my stage name, Lady Gaga, right? That's me as That artist, but that's not what this movie is,” Gaga said Empire. “I'm playing a character. So I worked a lot on the way I sang to get from Lee, and to not come from me as an artist… How do you take music and just let it be an extension of the dialogue, instead of it just bursting out into a song?”
