Apple wants developers to submit their EU trader status now

Apple gives App store developers and booksellers are reminded that they must update their details with merchant status by February to comply with the EU Digital Services Act rules.

Apple must comply with EU rules Digital Services Act with its various online stores, not just the App Store. Due to some regulations that require action from store participants, Apple has informed developers on the News and Updates page that changes need to be made.

Apple also sent emails to other participants in its digital storefronts, including e-book sellers who offer publications through the Apple Books Store.

The notice on the Apple Developer site states that Apple Developer Program account holders or administrators must enter their merchant status in App Store Connect.

Starting October 16th, trader status must be reported in order to submit app updates to the App Store. Additionally, any apps without any applicable trader status will be removed from the App Store in the EU until the status is provided and verified.

Apple also offers a link to developers on how to submit merchant status.

As part of the Digital Services Act, Apple must verify and display merchant contact information for all merchants that distribute apps on the App Store, as well as other storefronts. This information includes an address, phone number, and email address, which are posted on the product page.
