Earlier, he had had an argument with the father of a boy who had thrown water on Mr Nasraoui from a balcony.

The attackers showed up at an air-clearing rally in a parking lot, where Mr Nasraoui was beaten, kicked and stabbed.

A manager at Barcelona FC, where Lamine plays, said: “Luckily a friend of the father showed up, otherwise they would have killed him.”

Four people presumably from one family were arrested and would be taken into custody court yesterday.

On Thursday 17 year old Yamal visited his father in the German Trias i Pujol Hospital, nearby Barcelona.

They were seen together after the teen sensation helped Spain lift the trophy Euro 2024 last month.

After the attack, Moroccan Mr Nasraoui told Spanish television: “I was afraid like everyone else.

“I have to be calm and think about the courts will do their work.”
