James Bond betting suspended as bookmakers speculate new 007 has been found

For nearly three years now, film fans have been feverishly speculating about who the successor might be. Daniel Craig as the following James Bond – and now we may have another clue to the answer.

That's because bookmakers have suspended betting.

Craig, 56, left the franchise when he surrendered his license to kill in 2021 following the release of No Time to Die, his fifth film as the iconic spy.

Since then we have seen various candidates were mentioned for the rolefrom Idris Elba (who withdrew from the race), former runner-up Henry Cavill and James Norton to the newer Netflix breakthrough stars possible such as Bridgerton's Jonathan Bailey, The gentlemen Theo James and Leo Woodall, who played Dexter in the emotional miniseries One Day.

However, for several months now, one British actor has been considered the favorite, with rumors circulating when reports emerged that he filmed the famous gun barrel sequence who appears at the beginning of every Bond film as part of an audition.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 34, was later found murdered. offered the role of a lifetime earlier this year, although this report was later dismissed.

The upcoming Kraven the Hunter actor, who direct questions about the component dealt with has been the bookmakers' favorite for just as long.

In June, Coral and betideas.com gave Taylor-Johnson odds of 4/5, giving him a good chance of becoming the next 007.

Bookmaker Coral has now announced that it has suspended betting on the next James Bond.

“We have pulled the plug on our next James Bond bet due to the high interest in Aaron Taylor-Johnson,” said Coral’s John Hill.

'We're just going to let the dust settle for now, but it could well be that a replacement for Daniel Craig has been found.'

Before betting was suspended, the actor had odds of 1/2.

Taylor-Johnson recently left fans in awe with a major hair transformation when, after years of having a beard, he debuted with a clean-shaven and shorter haircut.

He has been busy working on it since May 28 years laterbeside Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes And Cillian Murphya sequel (or technically a third installment) released more than 20 years after the original.

The Bullet Train actor shared a photo of himself with his long hair slicked back and a wild beard. He wore aviator sunglasses, a loosely buttoned pink shirt and a few necklaces.

“When you look at it like this…” he wrote over the photo, before posting proof of his transformation in the next photo.

“…To another,” he finished the sentence, revealing himself with shaved locks and a beardless beard, posing for a selfie in an orange fitness outfit.

The star, who broke through in 2008 with his roles in Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, has grown his beard and long hair so long that fans could easily walk past him on the street without noticing the star.

It remains to be seen whether the preparation has anything to do with portraying a certain slick spy.

Barbara Broccoli and her fellow producer and half-brother Michael G. Wilson are the powers that be anoint the new James Bond in due course for the next series of Eon films – and so far they've remained silent.
