August 20th seems to be the only date Pico's next headset will launch in China.
Last week Pico announced a product launch event for August 20thwith social media posts strongly suggesting it's a new headset. However, new social media posts today suggest this will only be a China launch event, with a launch elsewhere at a later date.
The message calls the headset Pico 4 Ultra, a name that also recently seen in an image leaked on Chinese social media. But it's possible the headset will be called Pico 4S elsewhere. In March ByteDance trademark “Pico 4S” and ringless “4S” controller icons were found in the Pico Connect PC VR streaming software.

Regardless of what the headset is called, we've seen a number of leaks over the past year that potentially reveal some of its specs.
Back in September last year, images emerged showing new ringless Pico controllers. shared on Chinese social media.
The information reported In December Pico 5 was cancelled because Pico 4 Sales figures “fell far short of ByteDance's expectations” and the company planned to release a less ambitious, revamped version of Pico 4 instead.
The first leak of the actual specifications released in Junevia a Geekbench result that strongly suggests it will use the same Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset as Meta Quest 3, but with 12GB of RAM, compared to 8GB for Quest 3.
A few weeks later, South Korea's National Radio Research Agency (RRA) reported certified a new Pico headset. The dossier revealed that the headset has 6GHz Wi-Fi support, which means it supports Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7.
Finally, a few days ago, several official looking renders of the headset and the official carrying case accessory have been leaked.
