Manchester United will turn their attention to Lisandro Martinez once they complete the signing of Feyenoord defender Tyrell Malacia.

Erik ten Hag is close to making his first signing as United boss after the club pushed in a £13million offer plus £1.7million in add-ons for Malacia on Monday night.

‘The agreement is there’ [with United]’, said Feyenoord director Frank Arnesen.

“We’re waiting for Tyrell now. If he says yes, then a transfer to Manchester United is an obvious choice.’

While the left-back also has an offer from Lyon, L’Equipe reports that Malacia has informed the Ligue 1 side that he will sign for United.

Once that deal is done, United will increase their interest in Ajax defender Martinez, according to The times.

Arsenal has already made a £34 million bid for the Argentina international, with the Dutch giants demanding a compensation of nearly £45 million.

United have asked Ajax to keep them informed of the situation with ten Hag who would like to sign his former player.

Martinez’s defensive partner Jurrien Timber is also on United’s radar, but the 21-year-old seems determined to play at least another year for Ajax to boost his chances of playing for the Netherlands at the World Cup this winter.

United remain in talks with Barcelona over a transfer for Frenkie de Jong, who has made serious progress on that front this week.

The Premier League side is believed to be close to agreeing to a £55 million fee plus various performance-related add-ons that could take the deal up to £74 million.
