The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has warned that cholera can kill within hours if left untreated.
The NCDC made the announcement in a post on its official Facebook page.
The center said early reporting of suspected cases of cholera improves survival.
The NCDC said”: With an incubation period of at least 2 hours, #cholera can kill within hours if left untreated.β
βIt is easily transmitted in areas with poor sanitation hygiene practices and lack of clean water. Early reporting of suspected cases increases the chances of survival.β
It was collected that a a total of 2,523 suspected cases of cholera have been reported, including 78 deaths from 31 states.
The latest data from the NCDC shows that the death rate from cholera is 3.1 percent.

Cholera is an acute diarrheal disease caused by Vibrio cholerae; a gram-negative rod-shaped bacterium.
