Ana De Armas’ Marilyn Monroe battles her demons in the haunting new trailer for Netflix’s Blonde.

The Andrew Dominik-directed film will see the ‘inner life’ of the iconic actress.

The teaser opens with a look at Marilyn’s worldwide fame, with crowds chanting her name – but things quickly fall apart for her.

“I know you have to get used to it, but I just can’t,” she says. “I’ve played Marilyn Monroe, Marilyn Monroe, Marilyn Monroe.”

As Ana’s Marilyn is seen screaming, she says, “I can’t bear to do another scene with Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn doesn’t exist. When I come out of my dressing room, I’m Norma Jeane. I’m still her when the camera rolls.’

The teaser shows Marilyn being dragged down a hallway, crashing her car and fleeing a building.

One particularly terrifying shot sees Marilyn cry, “Help me” as crowds hear her cheer.

“Marilyn Monroe only exists on screen,” she says.

Also set to appear in the competition section of the Venice Film Festival, Blonde is based on Joyce Carol Oates’ bestseller and features a star-studded cast alongside Ana, including Bobby Cannavale, Adrien Brody, Julianne Nicholson, Xavier Samuel and Evan Willems.

Ana recently talked about her transformation as Monroe, telling Netflix Queue, “We’ve been working on this movie every day for almost a year.

“I read Joyce’s novel, studied hundreds of photos, videos, sound recordings, movies—everything I could get my hands on. Each scene is inspired by an existing photo. We looked into every detail in the photo and discussed what was happening in the photo.’

She continued, “The first question was always, “What did Norma Jeane feel here?” We wanted to tell the human side of her story. Fame made Marilyn the most visible person in the world, but it also made Norma the most invisible.”

Director Andrew is not afraid to offend the publicearlier tell vulture: ‘We are now, I think, in a time when people are really unsure about where any lines run. It’s a movie that definitely has a morality,” he continued.

“But it swims in very ambiguous waters because I don’t think it’s going to be as ready-made as people want it to be.”

“There’s something in it to hurt everyone.”

Monroe died in August 1962 at the age of 36 from a barbiturate overdose, but there are confusing reports of the exact circumstances of where she died.

Blonde is scheduled for release on Netflix on September 28.
