Leading financial institution, Fidelity Bank Plc, has announced plans to launch a new round of free digital skills training for business women across the country starting Monday, August 1, 2022.
Hosted in partnership with ImpactHer and Google, the course provides women entrepreneurs with hands-on training on building their brands and selling online, creating a digital marketing plan, setting up their Google MyBusiness account, using data and insights to build their business. grow your business, productively including online.
Commenting on the training, Osita Ede, Divisional Head, Product Development at Fidelity Bank Plc, said: “It has become imperative that women entrepreneurs in Africa are empowered to overcome the lack of digital literacy that prevents them from fully take advantage of the digital transformation underway in Africa and the world, we believe providing this access will help them thrive in their various businesses.”
According to Efe Ukala, founder of ImpactHER: “Statistically, women and girls are 25 percent less likely to use digital technology for basic purposes, 4 times less likely to know how to program computers, and 13 times less likely to apply for technology patents. This therefore highlights the importance of equipping African women with digital skills that can be used to scale their businesses. Let’s not forget that data shows Africa could add $180 billion to its GDP by 2025 if we close the digital divide in e-commerce.”
