Piers Morgan has announced that he is taking a break from presenting his current affairs talk show Uncensored – and Jeremy Kylea will replace him during his spare time.
Morgan, 57, broke the news on Twitter to his 7.9 million followers early this morning and received 32 retweets in response.
In addition, viewers have also been told that former ITV presenter Jeremy Kyle is taking the place of Morgan as he ‘relaxes’ in America.
Commenting on his planned hiatus, Morgan tweeted, “That’s it for me on Uncensored for the summer. Thanks to my brilliant team for all their hard work.’
So far, Uncensored has aired 56 episodes and recorded interviews from the former president Donald Trump, Caitlyn Jennerand Usain Bolt.
Morgan continued, “I’m going to relax by roasting serial killers in American prisons. [Uncensored will be] back in the air on September 5′
Speaking of his replacement, Morgan joked, “I can’t imagine a finer transmitter to keep my seat warm. Well, I can, but they weren’t available – I’m sure he’ll do his best.’
The disappointing ratings for Uncensored have received a lot of attention, with ratings drop by as much as 80% from opening night.
Kyle famously presented The Jeremy Kyle Show on ITV’s daytime schedule between 2005 and 2019, then made the switch to TalkTV in 2021.
The Jeremy Kyle Show was canceled by ITV after it was revealed a guest had died by suicide after shooting an upcoming episode.
Steve Dymond, who died at age 63, sent a final text message to his ex-fiancée after “failing” a lie detector test on the show’s set.
It read, “I hope the Jeremy Kyle Show is happy now. They are responsible for what is happening now. I hope this brings good ratings for them’.
“I bet they’ll keep this quiet. Never never never have I cheated on you. Never never. My last words’.
The incident sparked an investigation into how potentially vulnerable guests were treated when appearing on sensitive television programmes.
TalkTV made headlines earlier this week when the channel’s political editor Kate McCann suddenly fainted during a live debate between future conservative leaders Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak.
Aired uncensored weeknights at 8pm on TalkTV.
