When the stars emerged for the Los Angeles premiere of Thirteen Lives, some real-life heroes appeared as well.

The Amazon Prime The film is based on the remarkable true story of an extraordinary team of rescuers who saved the lives of a soccer team that trapped in a cave in Northern Thailand in 2018.

The heroic divers, Richard Stanton, Vernon Unsworth, Josh Bratchley and Connor Roe with their water engineer Thanet Natisri, all attended the prestigious event to see the film based on their captivating story.

All five men wore smart suits for the occasion and posed with the actors who play their respective roles in the film, including The Batmans Colin Farrell, Lord of the Rings’ Viggo Mortensen, star wars Joel Edgerton and Tom Bateman of Downton Abbey.

The gripping film traces the crux of the case that gripped the world when 12 teenage soccer players and their 25-year-old assistant were all trapped in Tham Luang Nang Non Cave after a torrential downpour.

The difficult nature of the rescue mission required an international team of experienced divers to come to their rescue.

In total, they spent 17 days in the cave, taking nine days for the divers to find them, and another eight days for the rescue to be completed.

They all survived on little food and water, and the remarkable rescue led to a multi-million dollar movie and book deal.

The survival movie is directed by Ron Howard and has welcomed positive reviews about the “gritty” claustrophobic take on the rescue mission.

Colin wore a sharp taupe linen suit for the red carpet, which he paired with a white T-shirt and silver necklace.

His counterpart Joel opted for a similar look with a white T-shirt under a gray pinstripe suit.

While Viggo wore a floral blue and white shirt with his navy suit.

In an interview, the star-studded cast praise the ‘selfless’ heroes who saved the team, adding that they were “critical” on set in recreating these underwater scenes.

‘When you’re underwater’ [in] caves, it’s dangerous,” Viggo said, “So I think all the actors listened very carefully to what they showed and told us and watched what they did, and everyone worked hard.

“Everyone pulled together… and that reflected the real rescue and that it was a very selfless, team-oriented effort.”

Colin added, “They said you’ve been working with kids…then you throw water in there too, and I can’t really swim. It’s a different world beneath the surface of the water.’

Despite the difficulties, he admitted that it was an ‘honour’ that we ‘told’ their story.

Thirteen Lives is now in select theaters and will be released on Amazon Prime Video on August 5.
