The veteran political journalist, with whom Ms Truss has so far refused to sit down, has taken on the former chancellor to tackle a range of cases as the two horse race to replace Boris Johnson intensifies.
That same evening, Ms Truss won the backing of former Tory leadership rival Tom Tugendhat, who stated that her plans for massive tax cuts were “based on genuine conservative principles”.
The two hopefuls last faced each other on July 28 at a husting in Leeds hosted by LBC radio.
Mr Sunak said he would support the return of secondary schools, while Ms Truss criticized the quality of local transport and promised to have the Northern Powerhouse Rail built.
The second debate of the last round was cut short on July 26 after TalkTV host Kate McCann passed out during the broadcast. The pair also swapped barbs in a heated debate on July 25, clashing on taxes, Brexit and China.
