COPS has rushed to the Arizona Mills Mall as customers hide in stores for fear of an active gunman.
Tempe Police have confirmed they are responding to an incident at the mall after multiple reports were received from customers claiming they heard gunshots.
Tempe Police said firefighters are on the scene.
There is no confirmation of shots yet.
No injuries have been reported.
At entrance 3, a reunion point is set.
The police would search the mall “slowly and thoroughly”.
An eyewitness reported seeing two men arguing when one of them pulled out a gun.
The man then walked further into the shopping center and started shooting, according to the eyewitness.
Video of the scene shows a heavy police presence, while another video shows officers running into the mall.
Shoppers have taken to social media to share their experiences, with many saying they heard multiple gunshots and rushed to leave the mall.
A customer was playing with a puppy when he reported hearing multiple gunshots.
“This guy came in with this gun and started shooting at the mall, people running, screaming, falling,” the man wrote in a Facebook post.
“We grabbed the dog and went through the back door of the store down through the basement and loading docks until we got out of the mall.”
Others have reported hiding in closets and in the back of stores.
One person shared on Twitter that she received a frantic call from her sister who works at the mall.
“My sister called me because there was an active shooter at the Arizona Mills mall where she works. I’m fucking tired. She just turned 18. She’s just trying to work and go to school. She’s having a panic attack on the phone .”
