‘There were a lot of bulls***’ – Robert Lewandowski criticizes Bayern Munich for LYING about bitter transfer to Barcelona

ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI suggested that Bayern Munich were fabricating “bulls**t” claims to appease fans dissatisfied with his acrimonious transfer to Barcelona.

Lewandowski, 33, left Bayern after eight successful years in which he scored a whopping 344 goals in 375 appearances and joined Barca after a £42.5m deal.

But the star striker appears disappointed with the way he left the Allianz Arena, claiming there was “a lot of politics” from the German champions trying to explain to fans why they sold him.

Lewandowski told ESPN: “So I feel I’m in the right place.

“So everything that happened in the last maybe a few weeks before I left Bayern Munichthat was of course also a lot of politics.

“The club tried to find an argument as to why they could sell me to another club, because before that it was difficult to maybe explain it to the fans.

“And I had to accept that even though it was a lot of bulls**ts, a lot was said about me.

“Not true, but in the end I knew that the fans, even during this period, still support me enormously.”

There were rumors during the early stages of the summer transfer window that suggested Lewandowski wanted to leave Bayern because they were after Erling Haaland.

Haaland ended up at Manchester City, however, and the Polish international insists he has never had any problems with the Norwegian superstar’s arrival in Munich.

Lewandowski added: “No, that [departure] had nothing to do with Erling. I am the man who even when something is not right for me, the truth is more important.

“I don’t want to talk about what exactly happened. But if the question is whether the decision to move was because of him, no, I didn’t see the problem if he went to Bayern Munich.”

“But some people don’t tell me the truth, say something else. And for me it was always important to be clear, to be faithful, and maybe that was the problem for a few people.

“And in the end I know that something is not working right with my person and I knew that, okay, I understand and I feel it might be a good time to leave Bayern Munich and join Barcelona.

“I had a very good relationship with my teammates, with the staff, with the coach, and these are all things that I am going to miss because I spent a good time there. And we were not only friends from the field, but also something Lake.

“But eventually this chapter is over and I’m opening a new chapter in my life and a new chapter in my career.”
