THE VIEW’S Alyssa Farah Griffin has angered fans after she made a seemingly “jealous” comment to a guest on the show.
The resistance emerged during Thursday’s live broadcast.
In a virtual interview, the hosts spoke to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, where Alyssa mentioned her roots in the presidential residence.
At one point in the conversation, Alyssa deviated from the political discussion to comment on the guest’s “fantastic” office space.
“And Karine, I just want to congratulate you on breaking multiple glass ceilings, and I hope when it gets cold in DC you use the fireplace in your office because it’s fantastic,” she said with a laugh.
Before taking over Megan McCain’s seat on The View, Alyssa served as the White House’s Director of Strategic Communications and aide to former President Donald Trump during his 2020 administration.
Twitter exploded with messages from viewers who felt that Alyssa’s comment showed her envy for her guest’s position in the White House.
“Alyssa just came through..you can see she wished she could have had Karrine’s position for Trump lol #TheView,” one tweeted, with many others posting similar responses to her comment.
The next day Alyssa was… broadcast by her co-hostsJoy Behar and Sunny Hostin, for not putting the talk show ahead of its rivals.
The 33-year-old has reportedly been hired as a new full time host on The View, but current cast members don’t think she’s giving the show proper respect with her recent antics.
ON AIR BLUNDER
On Friday’s show, the women of The View discussed Will Smith’s new apology video to Chris Rock about the infamous blow.
Taking on the moderator role during Whoopi Goldberg’s usual absence on Friday, Joy asked her co-hosts if Will’s latest apology was “sufficient.”
Alyssa, the first to share her opinion, said: “It’s an important first step. But I think he should move on.
“Even the fact that he wasn’t doing this in an interview format anymore, where he might be challenged with some tough questions, surprised me a bit.
“It’s much easier to say something in a script in front of the camera and then ask, ‘What was your motivation? Then why didn’t you apologize in your acceptance speech?”
That’s when the guest co-host said she’d “liked” Will to sit down with someone for an interview and then toss Oprah as a suggestion, instead of suggesting the talk show she was on at the time. .
“Sit with Oprah, she’s challenging you,” Alyssa said.
Joy fired back at Alyssa for suggesting what the former CNN political commentator should have suggested: “Or come here.”
Sunny agreed and said softly, “Or come here.”
Realizing her mistake, Alyssa seemed uncomfortable as she laughed and agreed that Will could also come on The View to talk about the situation.
As Ana Navarro tried to move on with her own thoughts, Joy realized she wasn’t done correcting Alyssa’s mistake.
The 79-year-old beamed: “Why give the booking to Oprah?”
Alyssa, still smiling, apologized, “Right? Sorry!”
COMMENTS FROM FANS
Fans couldn’t believe that Alyssa wouldn’t be the first to think of The View either, especially after it was reported earlier this week that she’ll be joining the show soon as a new full-time host.
One viewer mocked her: “You’re a talk show host… Will Smith should sit down with Oprah… LOL.”
Another told her to give them “a break” with that awful suggestion.
Insiders told DailyMail.com that Alyssa’s new role would be announced shortly.
Three sources told the news channel that: Alyssa would join Sara Haines, Whoopi, Joy and Sunny for the 26th season of The View, which starts in September.
