The team’s achievements have been commended for their work in promoting the ladies game and inspiring next generation of future stars in England.

Ahead of the final, supermarket Sainbury’s have released a billboard to encourage support.

By comparison, England is ranked 8th in the world and 6th best country at these European Championships.

Their opponents Germany are in 5th place, beating France’s number 3 in the semifinals.

English legend Jill Scott has said winning the tournament would be a “defining moment” for the ladies game.

If England want to outperform the country’s men – who painfully lost in the final last year on penalties – there are a number of important battles they need to win.
