‘Nightmare’ in Nottingham after driver fined £60 after parking eight minutes | UK | News

Ian Dykes, 63, said he was “disgusted” after being fined for parking his car for a short time. The driver parked his vehicle at the East Street Car Park in Nottingham. He then found his attempts to pay for the session were rejected four times.

This was after he constantly tried to enter his car registration number.

Unable to park, Mr. Dykes drove away from the parking lot and found another place to park his car.

He then set out for a job sent by his employer.

A week later, however, the driver was fined – about half of his daily wage.

“And a week later I was fined £60 for trying to pay for parking!

“I appealed, showed them the parking garage ticket with an eight minute time difference and they turned it down.

“They said you had to pay £60 which I honestly find disgusting.

“And everywhere you go in NG1 there’s a problem with parking, it’s a nightmare to get close to the companies where you have to work. But I’m not getting it back, you see, I’m losing it out of my daily wage.

He added: “That £60 comes from my daily pay, so that’s about half my pay for the day. They said the machine was working fine and it just wasn’t, it was just looping the whole time It was just a nightmare.

“There was only enough space for not even 20 cars and there was only one spot there so I figured I’d park there because it wasn’t even five minutes from where I needed to be.

“I work in the Nottingham area for Dell five days a week, and I don’t know the area very well as I’ve only lived here for five years, but if someone were to come into town to do their shopping in the city center it’s a nightmare to park.”

The issuer of the parking fine, Euro Car Parks, was asked for comment by the Nottingham Post but has not yet responded.
