CORONATION Street actor Tony Maudsley was left furious after a stranger flattened his car and drove away.
The soap star – who currently plays George Shuttleworth on the ITV program – went to Twitter to share a photo of his damaged car.
Tony, 54, told his fans how a “big truck” crashed into the side of his Kia Sportage and left it hanging with the bodywork.
The red car, priced at £ 25,000 brand new, was badly damaged on the side and rear by the truck driver.
“Many thanks to the two workers who saw a truck in my parked car yesterday and then drove away,” Tony wrote.
“The dynamic duo then followed him in their own van and took down his registration plate for me.”
Tony thanked the hero workers one last time and concluded, “There are some good people in this world.”
In April, it was revealed that Tony will continue to play George Shuttleworth after show bosses renewed his contract.
The actor – who is best known for playing hairdresser Kenneth in Benidorm – will remain on the rocks until at least 2023.
With a smiling selfie outside Corrie’s iconic bar, Rovers Return, Tony announced the happy news on Twitter.
“It’s me (and George) who all signed up for Corrie by at least July 2023 and I couldn’t be happier!” I have the photo captioned.
Tony announced that he would be joining Corrie in 2020 during an interview about Lorraine – and kicked it off with Eileen Grimshaw in a new romance.
He admitted he went back years with Eileen actress Sue Cleaver – and they could not wait to work together again.
Tony said: “Sue and I were married about 20 years ago in a program called City Central. When I went for the role, Sue came in very kindly and read with me and we had an immediate connection.
“When we worked together 20 years ago, we got along so, so well and that spark was absolutely still there.
“I felt it, Sue still felt it and the cast and the producer felt it because they said, ‘I think we found our George.'”
The Sun on Sunday revealed how Tony joined the soap, but that the pandemic delayed his debut.
