EMILY PRESCOTT: Elizabeth Hurley is back on her feet, but slightly down at the heel after recovering from her ankle injury

Elizabeth Hurley has finally got rid of the orthopedic boot she’s been wearing for a month since she injured an ankle – so I had to don a pair of elegant gold heels last week to attend Goodwood Festival.

But when I was after her, she insisted, “No, no, no. I’m in apartments. My first time in flats.’

Perhaps the shoes are flat by the 57-year-old’s usual standards.

But whether she’ll ever be able to wear her beloved stilettos again is a question she should discuss with her surgeon, she told me.

This isn’t the first time Liz has been dishonest with her fashion statements.

In 2020, she vowed that she would never wear a bikini in public again — a promise her 2.4 million Instagram followers know very well and that she has failed to keep.

Also at the festival, Pixie Lott was sunny in the Duke of Richmond’s private box.

And no wonder, because she’s still on honeymoon… six weeks after her wedding.

The singer, 31, and her model husband Oliver Cheshire danced across Europe to a ‘multi-moon’ and she told me, ‘Just because we’re back doesn’t mean it’s over.’

Jockeys’ turn for the worse

The Goodwood racecourse owner, the Duke of Richmond, has pushed the winning line back 100m at this year’s festival – as riders kept falling from their horses after taking a sharp turn at the end of the races.

“After the jockeys win, the horses go on, turning that sharp corner and chasing them just when they think they’re home and dry!” says the Duke’s son, Will Gordon-Lennox, 25.

Will’s friend Eleanor Lambert can drive but turned down offers to race in the all-female amateur Magnolia Cup race at the festival because she’s so nervous about the hairpin.

Petra Ecclestone’s new businessman Sam is tired of people being obsessed with their private lives.

Sam’s recent marriage to Petra, daughter of F1 mogul Bernie, was marked by a performance by Razorlight, but their joy was marred by negative reactions on social media.

In particular, Sam has taken offense to socialite and author of The Perfect Gentleman James Sherwood, who said of the marriage, “I’ll give it eight months.”

James has now deleted the message, but Sam still hopes to confront him. “If someone can give me his number, I will,” says Sam. This can get messy…
