Samsung could be working on a sub-$800 foldable, but don’t expect it soon

Samsung is hard at work on its fourth-generation foldable phones, but the closest thing to an affordable foldable phone is the $999 Galaxy Z Flip 3. Now, a Korean retailer has claimed a more affordable device is in the works.

ETNews reports (h/t:r/Android) that Samsung is working on more affordable Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold devices. The outlet says Samsung is aiming to deliver a foldable tablet with a price tag of less than a million won (~$770), though it’s unclear whether that’s the target price for either model or the Flip device. For what it’s worth, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 launched with a price of 1.25 million won (~$963) in Korea.

The outlet further claims that these cheaper foldables would be part of the Galaxy A range and that Samsung will remove premium features to bring the price down.

However, there is no word on the features Samsung would remove to deliver a lower price. However, we suspect that a more affordable Galaxy foldable would use a mid-range processor, less RAM, less storage, less impressive cameras and/or older display technology for the foldable screen.

No, we can wait a long time if ETNews claims these more affordable Galaxy foldables will launch in 2024.
