The next Olympic Games will be held in Paris in July and August 2024. But in the next two years, most French voters suggest that they don’t believe the event is safe enough.
A Le Figaro Fiducial / Odoxa poll suggests that 59% of French citizens believe the government cannot ensure adequate security at the Games.
Their worries also spread to the 2023 Rugby World Cup, also in Paris.
Le Figaro described this as Macron’s “slap.”
As a particularly annoying result for the president, 68% of respondents said they did not trust the president to deal with crime and limit robbery and assault.
Concerns about hosting the Olympics seemed particularly excited after the use of tear gas on a crowd of Liverpool fans waiting for Paris police to attend the Champions League final last month.
These crowds included children.

According to Valeurs actuelles, respondents want to use video surveillance systems and even drones to make upcoming events, including the Olympics, safer.
Safety and security concerns go beyond poorly managed sporting events.
Over 1,000 French people over the age of 18 were asked in a Fiducial / Odoxa poll.
Fifty-five percent of respondents said they were worried about the safety of their home when they went on vacation, and 72% said they were making sure they were monitoring the situation.
