Thick black smoke has been witnessed rising from a Russian ammunition depot in Alchevsk, a city in Kremlin-occupied Luhansk region of the Donbas. Shocking videos from the city captured the base filled with Moscow’s military supplies as the site went up in flames and the sky above turned black with plumes of smoke. The news comes as the latest blow to Russia’s military resources as information from the conflict’s front lines suggests President Putin’s forces are already struggling to equip warring troops.
Russian ammunition depots have become a strategic target for Ukraine’s defense as President Zelensky’s forces attempt to wipe out Moscow’s military supplies.
This week, a Kremlin munitions depot in Raiske, a city in Russian-occupied Kherson, erupted in a massive explosion as fire rippled through Russia’s weapons stockpile.
Earlier this month, another Russian ammunition depot in eastern Ukraine was destroyed by a rocket attack that set off a violent explosion to devour the Kremin’s weapons.
Ukrainian armed forces have carried out increasing attacks on Russian military bases in occupied territories as President Zelensky’s army has been bolstered by advanced weapons with long-range capabilities.
The US announced that a new support package for Ukraine’s defense would include four additional high-mobility artillery-missile systems (HIMARS), bringing the total number delivered to 16.
America has also supplied up to 580 advanced unmanned Phoenix Ghost drone systems to the Ukrainian military.
By comparison, Russia has been forced to rely on outdated Soviet-era equipment as the conflict really exposed President Putin’s lack of international allies.

According to open-source defense analyst Oryx, Russia has been confirmed to have lost 4,997 pieces of equipment and military vehicles since the invasion began.
The actual number is likely to be much higher, as Oryx has only included those resources that can be confirmed to have been destroyed, damaged, abandoned, or captured through video or photo evidence.
The Kremlin has suffered a staggering loss of 910 tanks and a further 506 armored fighting vehicles.
In comparison, Ukraine has lost only a fraction of Russian equipment, with a total of 1,386 pieces destroyed during the war, including only 232 tanks and 116 armored fighting vehicles.
The British Ministry of Defense confirmed that Moscow is desperately trying to preserve weapons damaged during the conflict as the Russian army has set up a makeshift armored vehicle repair center close to the Ukrainian border.
