Covert Ops successor not currently in development

nDreams is not currently working on a sequel to its popular stealth shooter, Phantom: Covert Ops.

The studio confirmed this in a recent Reddit post that celebrated the game’s second birthday. “We are not currently working on a sequel, but we have a lot of games in active development,” the studio said in response to one commenter.

Phantom: Covert Ops sequel is not in development

This may not come as a big surprise, as nDreams does indeed have many other games in the works at the moment. Last year, it launched another FPS, Fracked, on PSVR and it came back to the computer a few months ago. His next big project is a Ghostbusters VR game for Quest 2 and PSVR 2, and it also runs a publishing house that is also behind Little Cities and the upcoming Sushi Ben.

Still, we hope to see nDreams return to the series sometime in the future. Phantom had clever VR design, which put users in a kayak and instructed them to row through an enemy base and take down targets in silence. We thought this was a great example of how to keep VR action captivating.

With that said, nDreams now has three studios working on internal projects. Alongside his base team, there is another who is also working on AAA VR titles and another who is exploring the vibrant service market. With all these resources, we remain hopeful that we will see a sequel to the game at some point.
