There’s so much action to keep an eye on today, so let’s briefly run through a few things to keep an eye out for.
The athletics program starts this morning in the Alexander Stadium. Katarina Johnson-Thompson will compete in the women’s heptathlon, which will progress through the 100m hurdles and shot put in the morning session. It starts just after 10 a.m. and continues into the evening session.
There are also the opening rounds of the men’s and women’s 100 meters, with Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake and five-time Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah. This is in addition to the first round of the women’s 800 meters, in which Laura Muir will run.
Lots of swimming competitions ahead of you before Adam Peaty makes his final attempt at Commonwealth gold in the men’s 50m breaststroke tonight. After all he had to say yesterday, that should definitely be an interesting watch.
We expect more gold from the English gymnasts this afternoon with Jake Jarman, Joe Fraser and James Hall all back in action alongside Alice Kinsella, Georgia-Mae Fenton and Ondine Achampong in the individual apparatus final.
Gold medals are also awarded in judo, weightlifting and table tennis. All home countries are well placed for a step on the podium in those events.
And of course, we’ll bring you updates on the hockey, netball and cricket group stages throughout the day.
