Tom Parker’s widow Kelsey has paid a heartbreaking tribute to Dame Deborah James after the campaigner died after a five-year battle with colon cancer.
Kelsey took to her Instagram story to share a photo of Dame Deborah after her death at age 40.
She wrote next to it: ‘My Tom is waiting with a glass of something special for you Deborah.
‘What an incredible lady… find a life worth enjoying; Take risks; deeply grounded love; have no regrets and always, always have rebellious hopes. RIP Lady Deborah James.”
Dame Deborah’s family had shared the news of her death on Tuesday, writing alongside a series of photos from the late podcast host: “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Dame Deborah James; the most wonderful woman, daughter, sister, mama.’
They added that she had “passed away peacefully surrounded by her family,” who shared their pride for raising so much money and awareness for colon cancer.
The post added: ‘And a few last things from Deborah…’find a life worth enjoying; Take risks; deeply grounded love; have no regrets; and always, always have rebellious hopes. And finally, check your poop – it could save your life.”’
Kelsey had previously revealed that Dame Deborah had been a “pillar of strength” for her husband Tom, who died earlier this year at the age of 33, while The Wanted star battled a terminal glioblastoma brain tumor.
She shared a touching message after Dame Debrah revealed in May that she was undergoing end-of-life care at home after being unable to receive more active cancer treatment.
Kelsey wrote at the time, “I am sending love, light and strength to you, your family and babies. Deborah, you are an earth angel. You have raised so much awareness and money, you are a hero.
“Your courage is inspiring. You were a mainstay for my Tommy Boy, always ready with advice.
“I know you were both members of a club you didn’t want to be in. I wish we had all met under different circumstances.”
She also shared the link to donate to Deborah’s Bowelbabe fund, approaching nearly £7million in donations to cancer charities, adding: ‘Like Tom, you have never let cancer define you and what a legacy you have created.’
