Leaving biometrics on most personal devices can force malicious individuals to access your personal files. You can choose to temporarily disable these features if they are not secure or if it is unwise to keep these options open without compromising the convenience of daily authentication.

There are three ways to do this. And all of them will have Face ID re-enabled after the passcode is entered.

The first is to simply duplicate the power off procedure, such as when trying to power off the iPhone and iPad completely.

  2. The power off slider is displayed.Tap Cancel..
  3. You will be prompted to enter your passcode, notifying you that Face ID has been temporarily disabled.

This locks the device and can only be unlocked with a passcode. If you enter the correct passcode, Face ID functionality will be returned.

The second way is to call the emergency features built into your iPhone. This is enhanced by the Emergency SOS settings specifically for the iPhone. To temporarily remove facial recognition, you need to enable one of the calling options from within the settings category.
