After a long wait, Epic finally fixes Fortnite’s most broken feature that sweating has been just enough of since the beginning of Chapter 3. Visualize Sound Effects was a feature that was recently improved in an update where players could experience it while jumping in a battle royale match.

Fortnite has a history of broken features and glitches that have been well exploited by the player community in recent years. From XP Glitch Maps to weapon meta, players have used these exploits to gain a gameplay advantage that sometimes sees them banned for their actions.

While some actions or exploits get them banned, others are just bugs in the game that are a bug on the part of the developer who casually take them enough to fix. One of those exploits that was legit in the game was Visualize Sound Effects in sound settings.

When one enables the option, they can see visual cues of chests, gunfire, footsteps, van restarts, or even if someone nearby is healing. This then helps a player assess the direction of the activity and respond to it.

Since Chapter 3, this option was no longer available as players could hear the sound of gunfire, footsteps, or even healing from afar, which was an advantage for various sweaters who always love to rush their opponents and engage in close combat. But in a recent update in Season 3, Epic finally decided to remove it for good.

Epic nerfs Visualize the audio range because it’s not broken anymore

Epic has narrowed the scope of the “Visualized Audio” option.

In last week’s v21.10 update, Epic grained the scope of the Visualize Sound Effects option, as it was one of the most broken features in the game. Players weren’t aware of this big change happening in Fortnite until they tried it for themselves.

The update has fixed the distance and radius of the visual audio signals received when approaching crates, hearing footsteps or gunshots. After the update, players will only be able to see visual cues if they have approx. 100m close to the objects or their opponents, which is better lighting for casual players or campers.

While casual players or noobs are enjoying this news, sweats are sure to be unlucky and so are players who need these hearing aid options in-game to help them orientate their gameplay. In addition, this major change by Epic to one of the oldest Fortnite settings was not announced in any of the patch notes or their official Twitter handle, which according to the player base it should have.

As someone who struggles with directional audio, this is the opposite of what we needed. It’s been messy for a while and sometimes icons still don’t display properly. I just don’t know what the plan is here.

However, players think this fix could be a random update as Visual Audio has always been messy in the game since its addition. From reboot vans resounding from miles away to footsteps heard from afar, Epic still has some work to do to fix those audio problems.
