On Thursday’s letter page, one reader is trying to imagine Metroid Prime 4, so I’m wondering why there’s no Marvel Connected Universe for games.

Smoke and fire
It’s not exactly a smoke-breathing gun, but it’s highly suspicious from Nintendo’s latest financial information. I think the fact that they haven’t announced any new games in 2023 is a good testament to the emergence of new hardware.
Switch Pro is probably backwards compatible, so I think the reason I’m hiding the game is because it’s a completely fat Switch 2. You’ll notice the madness of predicting Nintendo, but like everyone else, they’re sensitive enough to give it a try. I’m going to repeat good tricks, so I think it’s a perfectly reasonable guess to launch in May with Breath Of The Wild 2.
If not, when? I think it still has to be 2023 or 2024, they can’t leave it longer than that. Not because the Switch is too old (as it is), but because of the significant advances in technology, it is possible that the performance of the Switch 2 will improve dramatically. Imagine a Nintendo hybrid console with PlayStation 4 power for less than £ 300. Yes, please!

I’m not sure about the Switch 2 coming out next year, but I’m sure the Metroid Prime 4 is always there. They must have known how long it would take to reboot and how long the switch would last. The switch is working so well that I probably underestimated it and expected the next switch to come out soon anyway.
I’m really curious about what they do with it, and whether they have a Zelda-style open world or something that maintains the traditional “locked door” style of Metroid. I have. Previous prime games had to do that for technical reasons, but the Metroid mechanics are so deeply rooted that I’m not sure if Nintendo can stop it.

No bad news
I’ve seen a lot of people at Inbox accuse others of being prejudiced and unfair to Sony, but I think it misses the point. People are not so angry that they are frustrated. They are dissatisfied not only with the lack of news, but also with the lack of reason why everything is so secretive. Sony obviously has other games in the basement, so why not announce them? Are they pretending to never announce the game with just pre-rendered trailers?
Say God of War: Ragnarok is out on October 12th or anytime. You can change it at any time later. Not all of us are used to it. I can’t even remember the last time I played the game, so I’m looking forward to at least one, not to mention what I was looking forward to.
Elden Ring seems to be very old, and it feels like the entire gaming industry is full after Easter, taking vacations and never returning. That’s why people are excited, not because they suddenly hated Sony and others.

You said that Return To Monkey Island was probably dedicated to timed switches because of strong indie sales on the platform, but I think it’s probably even stronger. I think it was because the point-and-click sales of Switch were strong. Especially in Ron Gilbert’s last game, Thimble Weed Park.
Ron shared this a few years ago:’The switch version was last released, showing about three months of sales, but the January 2018 user base is much lower, Microsoft has surpassed the Xbox version, which was released long ago and had a similar exclusive deal, and also the PlayStation 4, which was very disappointed with the sales of Thimble Weed Park.
We’re confident that Ron shares these updated versions of sales with Devolver Digital, and Devolver is probably now thinking of an even higher Switch user base, so it’s worth the help from Nintendo.

Unconnected words
Is it correct to think that Sony Spider-Man games are completely standalone games? Are you connected to another game or something in terms of the story? I think this is very strange. I thought it was a very obvious idea for a gaming company to try to reproduce the interoperability of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
DC should have done that in the Batman: Arkham game, but I still don’t think Gotham Knights is part of the same universe. Given how fast other movie companies copy ideas, it’s amazing that no game has ever actually done it. It happens a bit in Final Fantasy games, but the best examples I can think of are Half-Life and Portal, which was really a joke.

CG: There are only two games that can be connected, Spider-Man and Iron Man VR, but I don’t remember anything that specifically connected them. If anything happened, it was just a disposable line.
Mini success
Between the Nintendo Mini Direct and the first-party lineup, Nintendo pulled out a solid show-off bag for the rest of the 22 years. Tuesday’s Direct was definitely lacking in surprise given the leaks and news a few weeks ago, but Persona appeared on the Xbox (and inevitably Switch), but Nintendo’s first-party efforts and indie. Showed a powerful third-party choice for backing up.
Bringing old titles into a small portable is never old in my opinion. If you need to book time to play on TV, you’ve never spent more than 100 hours required to get through The Witcher 3 and Divinity: Original Sin 2 … much worse in handhelds Despite being a new version, it’s easy. .. Persona 5 seems to be finally completed on the cold winter nights of Christmas this year.
As a reminder, much of it depends on how technically the’olSwitch can withstand in these games. NieR: Automata isn’t particularly high tech, but it’s already a bit awkward on other platforms, so it’s a big concern. Who is doing the transplant?
And while Persona 5 is on the PlayStation 3, I think they’ve ported the PlayStation 4’s codebase straight for the Royal and chopped it to fit. You can live together because you have it in your handheld. Hope they get the release of the physical cartridge.

Early bird gets console
I am looking forward to the Sega Mega Drive Mini 2. It’s very expensive on eBay, so I’m hoping that the Sega CD snatcher will be translated into English for publication. The last time Snatcher sold the Mega CD on eBay, it sold for £ 234. Pre-order MegaDrive 2 Mini on Amazon as soon as possible. I didn’t order NESmini and SNESmini early so they sold out and I missed them.

I thought the recent Nintendo Direct Mini was a little mixed bag. Persona, NieR: Automata, and Monster Hunter aren’t interested in me while the remakes / collections of Pac-Man and Mega Man games felt like fillers in the release schedule, but I might be a little tough there. On the other hand, I enjoyed the first Mario + Rabbids game, so I might check out its sequel.
The presentation also provided some opportunities to fix the big gaps in my gaming experience. I’ve never played Monkey Island or portal games before, but I know they are very much appreciated, so when I return to Monkey Island, the portal companion collection looks interesting.
Do you think you need to play one of the original Monkey Island games to rate or understand Return To Monkey Island? And is it possible to play these games on the console (I don’t have a gaming PC)? LucasArts feels like leaving money on the table without releasing the original game as a collection in the latest format …
Similarly, could the Portal Companion Collection be the best way to experience these games on the console? It seems to remember the previously released collection, which may have been on the PlayStation 3 / Xbox 360. If this collection is there, a new switch version …

CG: The Monkey Island Special Edition is easily available on Xbox and PlayStation, and I think it’s quite possible that it will be introduced on Switch as well. Escape From Monkey Island (the only other important thing) is currently PC only, unless Sony brings the PlayStation 2 version to PS Plus. This is because it has already been done in Special Editions. Portals 1 and 2 are probably bundled at different times, but the official compilation is Switch only.
