SHAKING details have emerged about the death of a girl who was allegedly beaten eight times in the face at her family home.
Julissia Batties’ mother Navasia Jones and brother Paul Fine Jr (18) were arrested on Wednesday – months after the seven-year-old died.
Julissia, of the Bronx, was taken to the hospital on August 10, 2021 after police responded to a 911 call and found her unconscious.
Cops revealed that Julissia was under bruises when they arrived at the family’s apartment.
She was pronounced dead within an hour and doctors told police she had apparent trauma to her face and the right side of her body.
Doctors told police Julissia had an internal temperature of 96.6F and was cold to the touch.
Prosecutors in Fine Jr.’s court case described a “house of horrors” when they outlined Julissia’s last hours, reports NBC4.
The coroner’s office later ruled her case as a murder.
Fine Jr. apparently admitted to police that he hit her in the face eight times after he thought she had taken his snack.
When questioned, Jones claimed Julissia had fallen and hit her head on a desk.
Devastating sound obtained by the New York Post appears to show Julissia begging her grandmother and foster parent Yolanda Davis not to let her go to Jones’ house.
She said, “I do not want to go with mom.”
Police revealed that Julissia would become anxious before she visited Jones.
Jones apparently lost custody of her at birth, but the city’s Child Welfare Administration allowed Julissia to stay with her during the pandemic.
Davis and Julissia’s father, Julius Batties, has called for action against ACS.
She asked that the agency be investigated.
Jones and Fine Jr. are both facing charges of murder with corrupt indifference.
This means that they allegedly acted without regard to Julissia’s life.
They were also charged with manslaughter and behaving in an abusive manner towards a child.
Fine Jr. is also charged with sexual assault and assault.
The suspects were seen being led away by cops after their arrest.
Julius told NBC4: “I want justice to be done. That’s all I want for my daughter. That’s all I ask.”
