Prime Minister Boris Johnson argued for the “paternity” of the idea country that France’s President Emmanuel Macron first mentioned to include expanding Europe’s diplomatic perspective and not being closely linked to the EU.

At the NATO Madrid Summit yesterday, he said countries should approach Turkey, Maglev and Ukraine with the aim of forming blocks linked by relationships similar to the “Marenostram of the Roman Empire”.

But for many Britain supporters of Brexit, who are afraid that Macron will try to pull Britain back under EU regulations, this idea may not be comfortable.

Number 10 promised this wouldn’t happen, but Johnson’s new attitude shows a dramatic change from the Brexit campaign and the 2019 elections.

Many Brexiteers also opposed the proposal to immediately recognize Turkey, a country that the Prime Minister praised as “important” to his vision.

He also mentioned Israel, a long-time western ally, as another potential partner, but the addition would prove that the British are convincing enough to try out the new European-led union. Is it?
