God Of War Ragnarök Reveal Delayed – Was Going To Be A Blog Post

Hope of a last minute release date revealed for God Of War Ragnarök has been caught, because details of the two collector’s editions have been leaked.

Rumors about E3 and other preview events are usually the least reliable, not because the information is wrong, but because decisions about what to announce are often changed at the last minute… and supposedly that’s what happened to God Of War today. Ragnarok happened.

Multiple insiders had pointed to an announcement in late June that would reveal the game’s release date – with a specific suggestion from a source on Thursday, June 30.

It’s after 5pm as we write this and there’s no sign of a disclosure, with another source claiming Sony has now made the decision not to announce anything.

Rather than a new State of Play livestream, the announcement would apparently have been made on the PlayStation Blog and focused on the game’s two collector’s editions.

That sounds perfectly plausible, if a little disappointing, because while a new trailer is apparently ready, it’s only for the collector’s editions, not the game itself.

According to the usually reliable Tom Henderson, Sony decided to postpone the announcement only yesterday. Now, though, there’s no hint as to when it could take place.

This sounds like what director Cory Barlog was referring to when he recently said the decision about when we would talk about the game again “wasn’t up to me.”

Henderson claims not to know the exact release date, but believes the game will come out in November and speculates that November 11 is the most likely date.

Writing on Exuter, he makes no further reference to the information being leaked today, but does provide details about the Collectors Edition and the Jotnar Edition.

The Jotnar Edition, if you remember Norse mythology/Marvel movies, is named after the jötnar ice giants and comes with a replica of Thor’s hammer and a copy of the game.

The Collectors Edition reportedly includes the same content plus a map of the game world, ‘some badges’ and other trinkets.

None of that sounds very exciting, so maybe Sony realized that a state of affairs showing new gameplay would be a better choice.
