Police have recovered the body of a woman after her car ended up in the water at Auckland’s Mangere Bridge on Thursday.

The incident took place around 4:45 pm near Coronation Rd, Mangere Bridge.

The national police diving team recovered the body from the vehicle late Thursday night, police said Friday morning.

The vehicle was also recovered.

The serious crash unit was investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Another person was taken to Middlemore Hospital in a minor condition on Thursday evening, a St John Ambulance spokesman said.

The person, a relative of the woman, had not been in the car. They were taken to hospital as a precaution.
