Jos Buttler has named Eoin Morgan’s replacement as English white ball captain

Jos Buttler will lead the captain of England’s white ball teams and this year try to join the two World Cups after being named as Eoin Morgan’s replacement.

Buttler is probably currently the world’s best batsman in white ball cricket and the natural heir of Morgan, who retired from international cricket earlier this week.

With his Test career since the end of the Ashes, Buttler will be free to concentrate on white ball cricket and continue the work of his predecessor. Buttler has not yet retired from Test cricket but has been left out after a poor game and England want him to concentrate on white ball cricket now. The Twenty20 World Cup will be held in Australia in October and next year England will defend their 50-over World Cup trophy in India.

“I would like to offer my sincere thanks and gratitude to Eoin Morgan for his outstanding leadership over the past seven years. It was the most memorable period for everyone involved. He was an inspiring leader, and it was fantastic to play under. “There are many things I learned from him that I will take on in this role,” Buttler said.

“There is excellent strength-in-depth in the white ball groups, and I look forward to leading the teams for the series that starts against India against India next week and later in July against South Africa.”
