Broadcaster and historian David Starkey labeled the Duke of Cambridge as “awake William” when talking about the show. Mr Starkey labeled Prince William “awake” after controversial remarks made by his father Prince Charles at the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Kigali, Rwanda.
The future monarch, who represented the queen at the meeting, caused a stir after criticizing the government’s policy of sending migrants to Rwanda.
The announcer and historian then made a claim about the end of the monarchy, with the Duke of Cambridge.
He added, “I’ve decided to baptize him William the Wake so we can have the idea of the monarchy beginning with William the Conqueror and ending with William the Wake.”
Prince Charles has told Commonwealth leaders he cannot describe “the depths of his personal grief” over the suffering caused by the slave trade.
In Rwanda, he said the potential of the family of nations can only be realized by recognizing the mistakes that “have shaped our past”.
Charles added that it was up to states to decide whether to remain monarchies or become republics in the future.
He met Boris Johnson amid reports of criticism of his Rwanda asylum plan.
In private remarks, the future king had reportedly described the British government’s plan – whereby some asylum seekers will be sent to Rwanda to apply for asylum – as “terrible”.

Meanwhile, the royal family has been branded increasingly awake in recent weeks, with reports suggesting Meghan Markle would travel to Washington DC to protest the toppling of Roe vs. wade.
