Some governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party were absent when the opposition party’s National Working Committee (NWC) inaugurated its field degree for the Osun state election.
Bayelsa State Governor Duoye Diri has been appointed chair of the committee that will lead the election for Ademola Adeleke, a former senator and the party’s gubernatorial candidate.
Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo; Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto; Okezie Ikpeazu of Abijah; Nyesom Weeks of Rivers; Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom; Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu; Bala Mohammed van Bauchi; Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa; Godwin Obaseki of Edo, and Samuel Ortom of Benue were appointed vice-chairmen, but they were all absent.
Those present at the event were Ifeanyi Okowa, PDP Vice Presidential Candidate; Darius Ishaku, governor of Taraba, and other NWK members.
It comes amid speculation that the opposition party is being rocked by an internal crisis over the election of Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the party’s vice presidential candidate in the 2023 election.
