Canterbury’s mother accused of murdering three daughters in court

The case of a woman charged with murdering three young daughters at Timaru’s home was summoned in court today, but the accused did not appear directly.

She has been confirmed to be tried next year.

She was exempt from being in court after her medical team revealed that it was not in her best interests.

Lauren Ann Dickason allegedly killed 6-year-old Lianne and 2-year-old twins Maya and Carla at her home in Timaru on September 16.

Her husband, orthopedic surgeon Graham Dickason, discovered that when he returned home from dinner with a colleague, his three children had died and his wife was in serious condition.

The family moved from Pretoria to New Zealand and stayed in Timaru for only two weeks after a stint at MIQ when the children died.

The specific details of their death were suppressed.

Dickason has not attended court hearings since he first appeared in court two days after the children were killed.

The first appearance was in the District Court of Timaru, and the subsequent dates were in the High Court of Timaru in Christchurch.

In October, her lawyer acquitted all three murder charges with Dickerson’s signed consent.

The hearing date was set to 2023.

Several scheduled court days have since been postponed due to continued health assessments of the accused murderers.

Today, Judge Cameron Mander allowed Dickason to attend, but her proceedings went ahead.

He said the appearance was allowed with the advice of a clinician under her control.

He said it was considered “at this stage it was best not to expose her to court.”

Judge Munder continued to be detained in Hill Morton’s moderately safe psychiatric unit until his next court appearance on July 29.

Dickason was also exempt from attending the hearing (mainly administrative equipment) directly.

It is understood that some members of the Dickason family saw today’s court hearings via remote access links from abroad.

After the three girls were found dead, Dikason was taken to Timaru Hospital in crisis.

Within 24 hours she was arrested and charged with murdering three people.

Dickason first appeared in the Timaru District Court on September 18.

She was detained and detained and evaluated at a forensic psychiatric facility.

A week after the alleged murder, Graham Dickerson said he forgave his wife and felt she was also a victim of tragedy.

Since then he has returned to South Africa.

It is unknown when he will return to New Zealand and when he will return.

Funeral and farewell details for little girls are not shared by the family.
