In recent months, Steve McDonald (pictured by Simon Gregson) has shown his protective streak, especially after his daughter Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) was spearheaded and started dating former drug dealer Jacob Hay.
In emerging scenes from the ITV soapie, Amy still has bad news to bring to her father when she informs him of a leaking ceiling at No.1.
Steve blames Jacob’s cowboy burglar friend for making a mistake in repairing the roof.
Later, Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) gave Steve a collar and revealed that his own roof at No.3 Coronation Street was also leaking.
It encourages Steve’s partner Tracy (Kate Ford) to hire a professional to fix the roof rather than have him fix it himself.
While on a ride and dropping off a passenger named Viv, Steve learns her husband is a roofer and offers to send him round No. 1 to praise the work.
Viv’s husband Arnie then shows up and, after examining the roof, he claims that he can start immediately – but it will cost £ 3k and the payment must be made in advance.
Tracy is worried, but Steve is an optimist and decides to hand over the money.

He soon realized his mistake when Arnie the roofer did not show up at No. 1 again.
Tracy incites him because he paid the man, but things go from bad to worse when John pulls the scaffolder outside No. 1.
Like Arnie, he also asks for an advance payment, which leaves Steve confused.
