Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted chaos: misery for holidaymakers trapped in breakaway chaos | UK | News

Frustrated holidaymakers caught up in the chaos visited social media to brag about the queues at Heathrow, Luton, Stansted and Gatwick airports. Continued disruption at airports across the country is blamed on a nationwide problem with staff levels following the Covid pandemic and a rise in travel demand. But it also comes on the day after Ryanair staff’s three-day strike over payment in Spain began on Thursday and will last until Saturday.

easyJet workers in Spain also went on strike today, with two more scheduled for later this month.

Passengers faced long queues at Ryanair’s check-in counters and were seen sleeping on the Stansted airport floor when trapped in the strike disruption.

El Cerdo Pedro tweeted: “#StanstedAirport 6AM. Security queues start even in front of gates, total mess.

“Fast track in 20 minutes.”

@ Marcfish86Ridiculous added: “Situation at #StanstedAirport overcrowding, huge queues for food, and we took advantage of throwing bags off the day before. Absolute mess.”

Bostrom Photography posted: “GREWEN service from TUI and Stansted. Delays, confusion, miscommunication !! I will NOT be flying from STN or with TUI again!”

Others also smoked about the disruption at Luton airport.

Karoline Fahrenkamp said: @wizzair was the worst flying experience of my life and not just because I was stuck in @LDNLutonAirport for 20 hours. ”

Jennifer Ferguson added: “@LDNLutonAirport is your luggage recycling for subcontractors a complete joke. Wait more than 30 minutes? Are you kidding !?”

Ryanair cabin crew unions in Belgium, Spain, Portugal, France and Italy are currently on strike in a queue over payment.
