Winks grew up as a Tottenham fan and joined the academy at the age of five.

The 26-year-old has made more than 200 first-team appearances for the North London team and has been played 10 times by England.

The defensive midfielder made 30 appearances in all competitions last season, but started just nine league games throughout the season, the last of which came at the end of February.

There are rumors that Everton are the team that is likely to make a move for the midfielder, with Frank Lampard’s team desperate to improve on a very disappointing campaign last time out.

The Toffees, who only survived relegation from the top flight on the penultimate day of the season for the first time since 1951, will try to strengthen their squad this summer.

Fabian Delph has already left the club as a free agent, and the contracts of fellow midfielders Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Tom Davies all expire at the end of next season, so central midfield could be an area for development in the Everton team be.

Southampton are also thought to be interested in Winks, with Sky Bet priceing a move to the Saints at 5/1.

James Ward-Prowse is strongly linked with a move away from St Mary’s Stadium and with Oriol Romeu’s contract expiring in 2023, so Ralph Hasenhuttl could be without both of his first-choice central midfielders this time next year.

Winks brings international and Champions League experience, having played a key role in Spurs’ run to the final in 2019, can therefore provide a valuable asset to any Premier League midfield.

The central midfield is also an area where Leeds needs to recruit.

Calvin Phillips looks set for a move to Manchester City this summer and the rest of the midfielders at the club struggled last year as the club survived relegation on the final day of the season.

Leicester, like Leeds, are priced at 6/1 with Sky Bet to secure the Englishman’s signature for next season.

Current central midfielder Youri Tielemans is strongly linked with a move away from King Power Stadium, and Nampalys Mendy and Hamza Choudhury have agreements that will expire soon.

Brendan Rodgers is presumably under the impression that Winks would be a valuable addition to the Leicester squad.

Crystal Palace and Newcastle are among the other names mentioned with regard to Winks, with Sky Bet judging their odds on 12/1 and 18/1 respectively.
