NBCUniversal is shutting down another sports cable channel.
The company announced on Friday that it will close its Olympic channel in September. 30. The company had previously closed the NBCSN Sports Network at the end of last year.
A spokesperson for NBC Sports said the company will know where the Olympic Channel’s sports content will be after the Olympic Channel is closed.
“We are reassessing our programming distribution strategy for content currently airing on the Olympic Channel to best reach our target audience. We are home to IOC and USOPC partners and Team USA,” said a spokesman. .. “We will announce an exciting new plan for Olympic content in the fall.”
For NBSN, NBCUniversal moved some of its live events to USA Network and the rest to its Peacock streaming service.
