Boris Johnson CANNOT crush Labor’s six-point lead as fresh blood calls rise – poll | politics | News

The vote comes in the wake of another scandal engulfing the government with Deputy Chief Whip Chris Pincher resigning after he, according to his own admission, got drunk and touched two men at the Carlton Club in London.

This leaves Mr Johnson with two vacancies to fill after Mr Dowden’s resign as chairman, citing “disappointment and anger” by members of the Conservative Party.

It appears that the “disappointment” still appears to be in the polls, with Labor rising one point to 39 percent, still six points ahead of the Tories, although they scored a point up to 33 percent.

The Lib Dems are down one to 13 percent, but confidence in Mr Johnson’s government remains at a historic low of just 29 percent, less than a third of those surveyed.

Meanwhile, a quarter of voters remain so disillusioned that they are unlikely to vote in a general election and even nearly half of Leave supporters (49 percent) no longer support the Conservatives.

Bringing in Mr Berry, the former Northern Powerhouse minister, would give a more “red wall” focus on campaigns and new ideas.

It could also help to persuade some of the rebels who are in the NRG and are part of the group trying to remove Mr Johnson as Tory leader.

And 20 MPs apparently demanded that Mr Berry become the next party chairman.

According to fans, he is seen as a “straight shooter, smooth media operator, cable to bring the fight to work,” the NRG chief seems favorite to replace Dowden.

Express.co.uk understands five of the 20 MPs are outside the northern heartlands, where Jake oversees the largest group of MPs within the party.

One South MP, who was sued by several claimants, told the Express exclusively:

“Jake is loved, well in front of a camera and understands voters.

“To kick off all the mess, we need someone who can fight the battle for labor, be aggressive and bring fresh new policy ideas.”

An NRG member told Express.co.uk: “We saw at our conference that Jake has policy ideas, something that is much needed.

“He is not your ordinary Tory, he is related to voters and brings him a large support base. It is a no brainer, the prime minister must appoint him as soon as possible. “

Meanwhile, poll experts warn that Mr. Johnson needs a dramatic change.

Michela Morizzo, chief executive of Techne UK, said: “The government needs to take decisive action to support struggling households.”

She warned that too many of the changes and actions were “incremental” and not of a “high enough intensity.”

But warning that neither party inspires voters, she said: “No party is currently capable of submitting political proposals that truly attract the general public.”
